Good day folks, hope we are holding up to the changeable weather out there. Sure makes farming a lot more challenging since it is time to be thinking about harvesting our hay crops. 
 
On Sunday, St. Andrew's United Church in Ripley celebrated its124th anniversary with Judith Johnston as guest speaker from Hamilton and Larry Irwin as soloist, entertaining us with many favourite songs.
 
Bette MacLeod enjoyed a visit on Sunday with Robert, Charles and Lindsay Millar of Toronto.
 
Marilyn Reid and Janet Nixon attended the 100th anniversary of the Women's Institute at Parkhead on Saturday.
 
Earl and June Elliott had a family visit with Paul, Nancy and their daughter in-law, Colleen Greenwood, on Sunday and were treated to homemade waffles provided by their daughter, Joyce Farrell, who is a really good cook.
 
Bruce County Junior Farmers were busy replacing the Purple Grove signs on Sunday, as they wanted to express their appreciation for the use of the Purple Grove Community Centre for their meetings and social events. Well done; nobody should get lost now finding our way home to the Grove.
 
This week the Bruce County Junior Farmers are hosting five farmer delegates. Kim Hooey is hosting Helen Jones of England, and Jim and Fran Farrell are hosting Mary Phillips of Wales and Merle Krebs of Germany. The other delegates are hosted by families near Formosa and Chesley.
 
All the delegates and Bruce County Junior Farmers met at the home of Jim and Fran Farrell, with a barbecue to welcome the delegates and plan an exciting week's itinerary.

 

Largaret McInnes' grandson, Troy Dore, son of Ron and Ruth Dore, graduated from Law School in Toronto on Friday.
 
Congratulations to all our young folk who have graduated from university and college. We wish you well in your future endeavours.
 
Audrey Currie attended the wedding and reception for her grandson, James Murphy, and his bride, Sarah Pentland, at Three Bridges Banquet Hall in St. Jacobs on Saturday. Also, three visitors attended from Ireland.
 
Audrey's granddaughter, Padraigin Murphy, graduated from Western University with her Masters degree and has been invited to give a paper on Philosophy in Tubingen, Germany.
 
Last Wednesday evening, the 4-H Dairy Club met at the home of the TerWoerds family. The meeting discussed diagnosing digestion and comparing feed rations for the different ages of cattle.
 
With the sound of birds chirping in the air and the sun shining upon us, may we all accomplish what we set out to do.
