Relay for Life holds 'bank night'

The 2nd Annual Relay for Life in Saugeen Shores held its 'bank night' on Wednesday, June 23 at Port Elgin's TD Bank.

The night enables relay team captains to bring in the pledges that they have collected so far from their team mates for deposit at the bank.  The total on Wednesday of $18,000 exceeds last year and is in addition to the $38,000 in on-line pledges to date.

So far, there are 51 teams that have signed up for the all-night Relay to be held July 9th, but there is still room for more and it's  ....

Not Too Late To Sign Up …

  • Volunteer At The Event on July 9th
  • Register a Team for the Relay: Gather 10 friends, family or co-workers
  • Pledge a participant
  • Walk the Survivors’ Victory lap – the first lap of the Relay. If you have just been diagnosed, in treatment, remission or have beat this terrible disease sign up for this Victory lap. Over 100 cancer survivors walked last year in the Saugeen Shores. 
  • If you have supported and cared for someone with cancer – sign up as a Relay Cancer Caregiver and come out and attend this event.
  • Cancer survivors and care givers can sign up at Miller insurance in Port Elgin or Southampton or on-line at www.relayforlife.ca .
  • Make a donation to the event on-line at www.relayforlife.ca or by contacting a Relay For LIfe Committee member.

Saugeen Shores businessman, Mark Kraemer, lends a hand

Last year's event, a first for Saugeen Shores, raised $175,000 ... one-third of all monies raised in the nine relays held in the region.  The organizing committee is hopeful that the 2010 Relay will top last year's total.
