At the recent Master of Jazz Concert, held at the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre in Southampton, Tim Posgate, Rob Clutton and Stevie Valance entertained with a variety of musical styles.
Stevie Vallance The concert, that was live-recorded, featured Posgate on guitar and banjo and Clutton on stand-up bass while Valance provided the vocals. The audience had the chance to enjoy spontaneous improvisations, such as Posgate's 'Bčla-Banjo-jazz', which, according to Valance, "brought the house down". Posgate, a well-rounded performer, is not only a musician and bandleader, but has also composed more than one hundred compositions and has released seven CDs. Clutton, a composer and double bassist, is presently working on a Masters degree in music composition at York University and has received numerous awards, including the Chalmers Award to study advanced double bass and has been nominated for best bassist in the 2006 National Jazz Awards. |
l (L) Tim Posgate, Stevie Vallance & Rob Clutton Vallance, who was born in Montreal and who now lives in Southampton, Bruce County, is an accomplished actor of film and stage, voice director, vocalist and teacher. She is also producer of the Masters of Jazz Concert Series and performs regularly in Toronto and travels consistently to Los Angeles where she was based for two decades.
