Be careful where you're parking. The South Bruce OPP will be levying fines against those who do not adhere to Kincardine’s parking bylaws. Dozens of drivers have been seen parking in handicapped zones, within fire zones and even where there is no designated spot. The culprits were caught on video, that can be seen on "You Tube." Constable Kevin Martin, community services officer, says even though vehicles can trespass on private property, the owner can have the vehicle towed, if no consent is given to park there. The vehicle owner will be responsible for the towing expense. Police were sent the link for the video and have advised store owners that this practice will not be tolerated. One of the parking lots that depicts many parking violations is at the Canadian Tire store. Dealer John Satosek says he was made aware of the video when OPP paid a visit to him.

Police told Satosek they will lay charges against the violators, under the terms of the municipal parking bylaws. They say, depending on the size of the building, a certain number of handicapped spots have to be available. People must also adhere to a zone marked for fire. Satosek says for now, OPP are waiting to speak to drivers and advise them that charges will be laid if they don’t obey the parking bylaws. Martin says OPP have no jurisdiction over video content on "You Tube" - that has to be addressed by the site’s administrator. To check out the video, click here
