Marsha Leggett is running for re-election as a councillor-at-large in the Municipality of Kincardine.

"There are a lot of things that I don't know and I want to know more about them," she says. "I'd really like to understand more about the municipality's financial situation. Plus,it's challenging working with the people and working with the council."

As for the finances, she wants to know more about where the money comes from every year. "I'd like a list at budget time," she says, "telling us how much money is there and where it came from, for example, for the Davidson Centre."

She says the municipality has lots of projects to complete in the next year, thanks to funding from the federal and provincial governments. But there are plenty of other little things that also have to be done, she says.

"I'm not ready to quit yet," she says, adding she is running for councillor-at-large because she likes to represent the entire municipality, from one end to the other.

Leggett and her husband, Leroy, have been married for 45 years, and have lived on the 10th Concession of the former Kincardine Township since September, 1971.

They have three children, Jennifer, Kimberley and Michael, and eight grandchildren.

She served in municipal government in a variety of roles in the Village of Tiverton: clerk-treasurer from 1970-73, councillor from 1974-78, and reeve from 1979-80. This is her first term as councillor of the Municipality of Kincardine.

In 1974, she joined her husband as a partner in their service garage in Tiverton and apprenticed for her mechanic's licence. In 1989, they sold their garage and she worked as a legal assistant in local law offices. She is now a full-time law clerk for Bill Mathers in Kincardine.
