Township-Tiverton Public School held an assembly Tuesday (June 22) to
share the classrooms' "Nobodies" who have been named and become
"Somebodies," and to celebrate the year of projects done within the
school. The "Me to We" program was also highlighted.
The
assembly began with each class presenting its named "Somebody," sharing
part of the scrapbook with the school, a slide show of students with
their projects and culminating with everyone in the school singing the
"Who Is Nobody?" theme song.
The names of the seven dolls are: - Mrs. Kirk's Senior Kindergarten/Grade 1 class - Sammy Somebody
- Ms. McFadden's Grades 1/2 class - Skittles Active:
Skittles after the classroom guinea pig who died on June 14. The
students wanted this name because Skittles was a member of their class
and Nobody became a member of their class. Skittles made the students
feel happy inside and when they did their Nobody projects, that also
made them feel happy inside. The 'Active' came from how active everyone
was in completing and participating in everybody's Nobody
projects.
- Mrs. VanVeghel's Grades 2/3 class - Rainbow; because of the colours of the rainbow representing the rainbow of jobs they completed for their projects.
- Miss Krupp's Grades 3/4 class - Evan Savers; Evan for Environment and Savers because so many of them helped do something with their projects to help save the environment.
- Mrs. Smegal's Grades 4/5 class - Somebody; because their Nobody had become a Somebody.
- Mrs. Tuck's Grade 6 class - Cody Avarielle Six
- They looked up the meaning of names on-line and found that Cody meant
'helpful' and Avarielle meant 'woman of strength' and then they had
both a boy's and a girl's name and the 'six' was for the fact they are
a Grade 6 class.
- Mrs. Weigand's support class - Big Heart Harry;
named because of all the ongoing jobs this group does in the school to
help everyone - compost; milk delivery; recycling of paper, bottles,
and plastic.
