Are We Wired or Unwired?

Go anyplace and somebody is using a hand-held device to communicate.  Of course the very young us it as a way of life, but it has crept big time into the geriatric world.

It's hard to believe that so many people want to talk to so many others with so much frequency.  It's been said that humans are really tribal in nature and are more comfortable in groups of less than 200 people.

Can it be that all these devices are just being used to communicate with our 200?

Anyone who has had a job where people were calling all the time can attest that most messages were not pleasant.  So where is the phone aversion?  Does everyone love their phone?  How  many are  just plain lost or broken and have to be replaced?  How many loss of signals can we tolerate?

Phones are really not fun for a dwindling number of humans.  They jar those people and interrupt more good conversations than they create. They are at best impolite.  Have you ever stood in a long line and when finally reaching the front been trumped by a phone call, which immediately gains top slot in the line?

Being wired or unwired is here to stay, but it's a terrible bore.  It's like the cocktail party where there is constant chatter, but no communication

for world news, books, sports, movies ...
