Construction figures continue to soar in Huron-Kinloss, with 26 building permits issued in June for a total construction value of almost $5 million. Chief building official Matt Farrell presented his report at the township's general committee meeting last night (July 5). It shows permits issued for eight new homes, with a construction value of $2.6 million. So far, for 2010, there have permits issued for of 37 new houses. Of those, most are being built in the Heritage Heights subdivision and Inverlyn Estates. The other major highlight in the report is a $1.8-million "conditional" permit for the Ripley Square mixed use building - nine commercial and 31 residential units. Farrell said he still has to review the site plan for this project which is why it was given a conditional permit. Developer David Brown is refurbishing the granary building in Ripley into commercial and affordable housing units. |
Also in the building report for June, Farrell noted a permit issued for an office building in Point Clark, as well as renovations to a church in Kinlough and an apartment building in Lucknow. To date in 2010, there have been 116 permits issued, for a total value of $15.5-million, compared to last year at this time, when there were 68 permits issued, for a total value of $6.7 million.
