Streetscape and facade improvement plan to go ahead

Stempski Kelly Associates is the company that has been chosen to provide a streetscape plan and guidelines for Port Elgin.

Two proposals were received with the selection being made based on qualifications and experience with similar projects, understanding of the project and ability to meet the deadline of October 31st and cost for service.

Stempski will provide a streetscape plan and facade improvements for the Port Elgin BIA area between Johnston Avenue and Elgin Streets.

The streetscape plan will address such things as street furniture, vegetation, accessibility issues, environmental sustainability, encourage 'walkability', and generally increase activity in the area.

The facade improvements plan is going to look at colour schemes, textures and storefront windows and may form the basis of a financial assistance program that Council may consider funding.
