After investigation police located a 21 year old Port Elgin male inside a building under construction in the area and arrested him for theft. This person had a small amount of marihuana on his person upon arrest. Police further located numerous articles at an apartment on Ivings Drive, most of which had been previously reported stolen from vehicle entries in Port Elgin and some in Southampton.

Police will be returning items stolen from vehicles to those owners that reported the incidents to police. The items stolen ranged from cell phones, chargers, knives, sunglasses and GPS accessories, a personal breathalyzer and other personal items.

The male is in Walkerton jail pending a bail hearing. He will be facing multiple counts of possession of stolen property, theft under $5000, possessions of marihuana. Another male will be arrested for his role in some thefts in Southampton.

Police advise that this person is not believed to be responsible for some recent break and enters and vehicle entries in Southampton and that there are possibly two more groups involved. Police remind people to Lock it or Lose it.

There were only two actual break-ins to a shed and garage, all the rest of the homes or vehicles were unlocked. Please help protect yourself, lock your homes or vehicles and report suspicious activity when it happens.
