Sandy:
I think I have caught up on my sleep, and I hope you have too!

Thank you so much for being a part of the success of the 2010 Relay For Life event. We would have never reached our present goal of $130,000 or had the response from the public that we did without the Saugeen Times support and the vast amount of hours you dedicated to the event. I know as when the Canadian Cancer Society gives our final total – The Saugeen Times will be again be there to help to let the public know our final totals.

Every photo opportunity – you were there and when photos were submitted they were published. The stories and features you wrote prior to the event put faces to the event and to this disease cancer.

Our committee members commented many times on your dedication, coverage and event updates and support of our event at our meetings. And during the relay I was stopped often to be told how impressed they were that you were on site throughout the event. And you being on site all night and working from the media tent was so appreciated!

It means a lot to our committee members and volunteers to have you there and to be supported by our local media!

The response of the public in pledges was amazing. And the increase in attendance by the public at this year’s event was due to your support and the Saugeen Times circulation of readers. The vast amount of people you reach with this powerful publication allowed this committee, and the Canadian Cancer Society to have another successful event in Saugeen Shores.

On a personal note, I know the impact your stories and photos have on the success of an event! With so many events to cover in our area – for you to dedicate the time to our event that you do to have photos, event listings, and your stories throughout the year and at the event itself is exceptional. It is truly noted and very much appreciated by me as a special event planner and promoter - and as a friend!

As I listened to the stories on site at the Relay by the Cancer Survivors, and talked to the public I heard the words “Saugeen Times” over and over again! This says a lot about the impact you have on our success…..

I know our committee, our teams, our volunteers, our sponsors and our 103 cancer survivors and care givers appreciate and love the coverage that The Saugeen Times has done for this event – and will do for this event in the future.

Thank you again Sandy for being a media sponsor, and a supporter of this event and cause. Our community is blessed to have you and the Saugeen Times in our community!

Sincerely,

Mini Jacques
