The 'Relay for Life' organizing committee leads the final lap as the sun comes up

The second annual cancer fundraiser, Relay for Life, in Saugeen Shores was once again a resounding success.

With 49 teams and 103 survivors participating during the night-long event that wound up on Saturday morning at 7:00 a.m. at Saugeen District Secondary School, approximately $130,000 was raised with monies still coming in.

Simon Harlton (R) was the highest individual fundraiser with $3,030 topping his mom, Nancy, by only $60

Donations are still being accepted on-line at (www.relayforlife.ca) and the money raised through the luminaries' donations and other activities has yet to be tallied.

According to representatives of the Canadian Cancer Society, it may take upwards of a month before a final total is known, but they also said that they were amazed by the response of the community, Saugeen Shores.
