'The Clippers' of Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre have donated thousands of hours in time to ensure that the records of Bruce County are maintained. They scour newspapers and magazine articles that relate to County families and then clip them to be inserted into hard-copy binders. To date, there are almost 350 binders that hold the records of births, marriages and deaths from across the County. "It's amazing when you see young people come in for the first time and learn that they can actually see photos of great-grandparents and learn about their family history," says Lorne Lockrey. The group is always looking for new members to help with preserving the history of Bruce County records and anyone interested can contact the museum at 519-797-2080. |
Cecille Lockrey who has logged more than 1,000 hours of volunteer time Both Lockrey and Mottram recently received the Ontario Volunteer Service Award at a presentation held in Toronto for their hours of commitment to volunteering.
