Men's Golf News

On Sunday, July 18, our golf professional, John Schmidt, organized a special event call a two-man blind draw, total net score, and a large number of members turned out for the morning competition.  In this game, golfers played their own games from the red tees and submitted their scores to John.  John conducted a blind draw to match up players into two-man teams, and then calculated the net score for each player on each team.  The total of each teams’ net scores was then determined.

In first place, with a combined net score of 132 was the team comprised of Phil Hunt and Lloyd Kibler.  Second place was shared between the team of Paul Holk with Russ Solomway and the team of Brian Acton and Gary Gross.  Three teams tied for fourth place with scores of 134, and sharing the remaining spoils were the twosomes of Rick Grolway with Bill Streeter, Frank Yakabuski with Dennis Sisko and Freeman Coblenz with Bill Lazenby,

This week’s Mens’ night took place at the Saugeen Golf Club.  Each year, both clubs visit each other’s course for the weekly Mens’ night competition, and when Chippewa travels to Saugeen, we always get a great turnout.  Unfortunately, the final results were not available in time for printing, but it is interesting to note that  Chippewa’s golf professional, John Schmidt, had his A-game in place as he shot a four-under par 68.  The rest of the results will be published next week.
