Perhaps it was the Bruce County beef, or more likely the homemade pies for dessert.

Whatever it was, the Tiverton Agricultural Society's beef barbecue drew about 250 people to the Whitney Crawford Community Centre Sunday evening.

Doreen Soloduka of the organizing committee said the event was held to raise money for, and awareness of, the 150th anniversary of the Tiverton Fall Fair next year.

"We're planning lots of special activities leading up to the 2011 Fall Fair," she said, "including a huge event on July 1. We're going to put Tiverton on the map."

She said the 150th annual fall fair will span three days, starting Friday and running through to Sunday afternoon, with plenty of things to see and do.
