The Lucknow Library will soon be getting a face-lift, thanks to a $20,000 Ontario Trillium Foundation grant announced Monday by Huron-Bruce MPP Carol Mitchell.

Mitchell was joined by local foundation volunteer Bertha Scott and representatives from the Township of Huron-Kinloss as the news was shared with the local community.

“Libraries play an important role in our rural communities, providing vital resources and services for Huron-Bruce families, said Mitchell. "These renovations to the Lucknow Library will make this important local facility fully accessible and more energy efficient.

Built in 1910, the Lucknow Library is one of many historic Carnegie buildings in Huron-Bruce. The Lucknow Library and theatre has been slowly renovated back to its historic use with the main floor library, HAWK theatre group upstairs and community meeting rooms in the basement. A 100-year anniversary celebration is being planned for Sept. 12.
