Mens’ Golf News

There was a great turnout for this weeks’ Mens’ night event, including a large number of guests from Saugeen and other golf courses.  In the A-flight, Derryl Urstadt claimed first low gross again with a score of 39, while Phil Hunt won first low net with a net 34.

In the B-flight, Dan Lazenby carded the low round of the night with a two-over par 37, and won first low gross in the flight.  Steve Green won first low net with a net 32.

 

In the C-flight, Charlie Schmalz shot 40, a very good nine holes, to win first low gross and Bill Berry won first low net with a net 33. 

 

In the D-flight, Russ Solomway and Bill Richards tied for low gross with scores of 43, and also tied for low net with net scores of 30.

 

Steve Green sunk the longest putt on #2, and Derryl Urstadt won Closest to the Pin on #5.

 

Harry McNaughton had the low round from the group of visitors with a five over par 40.  Joe Grifa and Chris Dion tied for second with scores of 41.

 

Senior Mens’ Golf News

 

The week’s format for Senior Mens’ golf was a four-man scramble with the requirement that each player in the group contribute at least 3 drives throughout the 18 holes.

 

The three-man team of Terry Bailey, Jiggs Maynard and George Wilson ran away with the event, scoring a three under par 69 to win first place.  This team, although short one player, were three strokes ahead of the nearest competition.

 

The team captained by Barry Beatty with Bog Speight, Doug Oatman and Jim Farrell tied with the team captained by Al Cruickshank with Tom Bailey and Peter Welford for second place with scores of even par, 72.

 

Terry Bailey won the Closest to the Pin competition on #5, while Al Cruickshank was closest to the pin on #13.
