Mens’ Golf News In this week’s Mens’ golf action, on Thursday night, Derryl Urstadt was the low shooter of the day with a two over par 35 on the front nine, good enough to win first low gross in the A-flight. Barry Beatty won first low net with a net 34. In the B-flight, Mike Cleary had a good round of 40 to capture first low gross, while Paul Holk took the first low net prize with a net 32. Don Foell won first low gross in the D-flight with a 46, and Jim Norwood took first low net with a net 37. In the D-flight, Bill Richards won first low gross with a 46, and Russ solomway won first low net with a net 36. Derryl Urstadt won the Closest to the Hole competition on the fifth hole and Barry Beatty sunk the Longest Putt on #2. In Mens’ Singles Match Play action, in the first round, Rick Grolway defeated John McCormack and Brian Acton eliminated Russ Solomway. In the second round, Frank Yakabuski defeated Aaron Mahon, Steve Green advanced by beating Dan Lazenby and Brian Acton moved on after eliminating Barry Beatty. In Mens’ Team Match Play action, Kevin Dagnall and Frank Yakabuski defeated Dan Lazenby and Gerry Call in the first round. George Matheson and Brian Acton eliminated Keith Stein and Aaron Mahon. In the second round of action, Paul Holk and Gesa Kocsis defeated Bruce Towner and Lorne Lazenby and Rick Grolway and Charlie Schmalz eliminated the Chesley team of Rick Denomy and Dale Woods. Senior Mens’ Golf News In this week’s Senior Golf, Mike Pitzen had the low round of the day. His 83 won him first low gross in the A-flight, for players with handicaps 13 -23. Barry Beatty won second low gross with an 87. Tom Bailey took first low net with a net 67, followed by Bill Thomson with a net 70. In the B-flight, for handicaps 24 – 29, Jiggs Maynard won first low gross with a 96, two strokes ahead of Peter Day who took second low gross honours with a 98. Peter Welford went to the prize table again, winning first low net with a net 68, followed by Bill Richards with a net 70. In the C-flight, for players with handicaps 30 -36, Don White captured first low gross with a score of 106, one stroke ahead of Doug Oatman who won second low gross with a 107. Zen Rybak took first low net with a net 71, followed by George MacDonald with a net 73. Terry Bailey won the Closest to the Hole contest on #5 and John McCormack was Closest to the Pin on #13. |
In Senior Mens’ Match Play action, in the first round, Dan Lazenby defeated George Wilson and Tom Bailey eliminated Mike Cleary. In the second round of action, Steve Green defeated Russ Solomway, Terry Bailey won over brother Tom Bailey, Paul Holk eliminated Barry Beatty and Bill Lazenby defeated brother Dan Lazenby.
