People look on as the emergency service workers continue their search

The South Bruce OPP, Kincardine fire department and the Coast Guard were on the scene at Station Beach, Kincardine, Monday evening (Aug. 16), searching for a possible drowning victim.

Constable Kevin Martin, community services officer, was unavailable for comment.

However, other emergency personnel said the search was for a 16-year-old girl who had just arrived the previous day from France for a student exchange in Kincardine. She was last spotted about 200 metres off-shore.

The fire department had its aerial ladder truck set up in the parking lot with firefighter Ryan Deer atop the ladder, using binoculars to search the lake for the girl.

The search continued until dark.

No further information is yet available.
