The first annual myFM International Film Festival will run Sept. 10-12 at the Aztec Theatre in downtown Kincardine. Local audiences will be among the lucky few to catch screenings of the most highly-acclaimed Canadian and International films. "Overall, it is the intimate nature, unique content and festive vibe that sets Kincardine apart," says co-producer Rob Mise, general manager of 95.5 and 99.7 myFM Radio. "The response so far clearly indicates the momentum of the Kincardine International Film Festival, that there is an appetite for our programs and we are capable of growing as we move forward." "The broad range of cinematic expression in this, our first year's festival, is found not simply in terms of early critical acclaim but in the variety of types of film-makers and the issues they explore," says co-producer Mark Lalonde of the Aztec Theatre. The festival is dedicated to the creation of opportunities for the artistic interaction and exchange among independent film-makers and the film-going community. The mission of the Kincardine International Film Festival is to provide entertainment, educational opportunities, programs and events that enrich the arts and culture of Bruce County, while inspiring a new generation of film-makers through the diversity and power of film. Friday night's shows include "The Kids Are All Right" at 7 p.m.; and "The Trotsky" at 9 p.m. Saturday night, it's "The Square" at 7 p.m.; and "The Secret in Their Eyes" at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 each, available the day of the show, 45 minutes prior to the screening at the Aztec. Sunday is a series of Children's Short Films, beginning at 1 p.m. These shows are free for all - first come, first served.
