Members of the club learned the functions of the respiratory system and how each organ involved contributes to the mechanics of breathing. For example, a bird’s respiratory system is unique because it uses air sacs located outside of the lungs which store air and help lighten the bird to make flight easier. The Ripley Disectagons 4-H club met at the Ripley-Huron Vet clinic Wednesday, Aug. 11, to learn about the respiratory system of animals.
