logo The Ripley Disectagons 4-H club met at the  Ripley-Huron Vet clinic Wednesday, Aug. 11, to learn about the respiratory system of animals.

Members of the club learned the functions of the respiratory system and how each organ involved contributes to the mechanics of breathing.

For example, a bird’s respiratory system is unique because it uses air sacs located outside of the lungs which store air and help lighten the bird to make flight easier.

The club will be going to the Toronto Zoo for its next
meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 18.
