(DYERS BAY, ON.)
– RCC Trenton and the Canadian Coast Guard
with the assistance of the Bruce Peninsula OPP continue their search for
a 63-year-old woman and her 10-year-old grand-nephew. The pair was last
seen at the Dyers Bay dock around 12:30 pm paddling south along the
shore in a green Coleman canoe wearing yellow lifejackets. When the
pair had not returned by 4:30 pm, emergency services were contacted.
Coast Guard boats out of Tobermory and Parry Sound attended the area to commence the search and RCC Trenton dispatched a helicopter, Bruce Peninsula OPP joined the search with their boat and officers began searching the shoreline. At 5:00 am, a green Coleman canoe was recovered about 5 km off shore near south Cape Chin. The search continues this morning for the missing persons.
