Sunday, August 22nd was an interesting day for Chantry Island Tours as one of the founding members, Bob Trelford,  escorted his daughter, Elaine, and grandson, Logan, out to the island.

Elaine and Logan got to see all that was involved in restoring the Keeper's quarters and Boathouse to its former glory.  They would not leave the island without realizing what an integral part Elaine's  father and Logan's grandfather played in the rebuilding of the house.

The restoration could not have taken place without the donation of 30 two-hundred year old hemlock trees harvested from the Trelford farm to replicate the massive beams in the Keeper's Quarters (home).

Shown in one photo is the lighthouse keeper's boat, Bob built the boat to exact specifications and named the boat after his father - Royal A, which stands for Andrew, also Bob's middle name.
One photo shows Bob admiring the beauty of the hemlock rafters milled from trees on his property.  Other photos show Bob, his daughter Elaine and grandson Logan admiring the authentic quilt on one of the beds.  Logan was especially interested in being "captain" of the Peerless even though we were docked at the time. Logan may follow in his grandfather's footsteps and have a deep respect and love of Lake Huron and Chantry Island.
