Thanks to the generosity of the Kincardine community, a little four-year-old London boy will be joining his classmates for his first day of school.

Jacob Geddes, grandson of Clara Geddes of Kincardine, has a chromosome disorder, needs to be g-tube fed, has braces on his legs and requires a special wheelchair to attend classes. His parents, Sam and Angie Geddes, had received some government funding through the Assistive Devices Program, but were $1,300 short to purchase the wheelchair.

Clara, an employee at the Kincardine hospital, with the help of her colleagues, held a raffle for a bracelet, and then at the Massed Bands event Aug. 28, sold ice cream bars to help raise the necessary funds.

A total of $2,500 was raised which means Jacob will have his wheelchair, and the family can use the extra money for additional expenses incurred with the medical bills and travel.

The family is overwhelmed by the outpouring of compassion from the Kincardine community.
