All members of the community are invited to a public information session about wind turbines slated for Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Point Clark Community Centre. Learn about the risk of health impacts, complications stemming from electrical issues, and first-hand experience of what it is like for some who have an industrial wind turbine as a next door neighbour. Electrical pollution consultant and Ripley Bio-Ag dealer David Colling will speak about dirty electricity and the impact it has had on residents of effected homes he has tested in the Ripley, Kingsbridge and Amaranth Wind Developments. Carmen Krogh, BScPharm, editor-in-chief for 12 years of the Compendium of Pharmaceuticals and Specialties used by physician, hospitals, nursing stations, pharmacies and other health care institutions, has held senior executive positions at a major teaching hospital, a professional association and Health Canada. She will speak to adverse health effects from industrial wind turbines. Stephana Johnston of Clear Creek, Ontario, will speak to her first-hand knowledge of living in proximity to an AIM/IPC wind turbine project. The builder and owner of an energy-efficient home on the shores of Lake Erie, lifelong campaigner for environmental causes, Johnston holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education degree from the University of Toronto. Mike Sapiro, president of HALT (Huron-Kinloss Against Lakeside Turbines), will welcome everyone and speak briefly to alternate energy strategies on the provincial level (rather than wind turbines and gas-powered turbines), the Green Energy Act stripping away power from the municipal government, and why wind turbines are not green The morning will be MC’d by Lorrie Gillis who has been involved with families affected by wind installations for over two years. She works on WindVOiCe (Wind Vigilance for Ontario Communities), a health survey that gathers reports of adverse health effects from all over the province. Decisions made about industrial wind turbines impact all neighbours. An informed community can make informed decisions on development and plan for a future together.
