Judges from throughout Bruce County and Ontario judge the many categories at the Paisley Fall Fair

For fall fun for the entire family, why not take in a Fall Fair?

It's fall fair time throughout Ontario and the annual Paisley Fall Fair began Saturday night and runs all day Sunday, winding up with the popular BQQ beef supper.

Although the fair officially opens Saturday night,  judging in many categories, including fruits and vegetables, horticulture, quilting and baking among many others was held during the afternoon.

Submissions from across Bruce County are judged on many criteria by experienced judges who have to meet standards set out by the Ontario Agricultural Society. In additions, judges cannot live in the community and all judging is done 'blindly' so that competitors names are not known during the judging process.

JoAnn Miller judges the quilts based 45% on appearance and 55% on technical skill

Each year the Women's Institutes of Bruce County create displays based on a different them.  This year's theme is  "A Tribute to Rural Women Yesteryear".

Sunday at the fair is all about fall fun.  Music in the Entertainment Tent and hands-on demonstrations in the Education Tent are only part of the activities. The Kid Tractor Pull , Paisley Volunteer Fireman care extrication along with a Ladies' Skillet Throw all add to the fun.

The biggest attraction, the Horse show and competitions, begin at 9:00 a.m. and run throughout the entire day.  The North American Six Horse Hitch Series, Clydesdale and Percheron Teams, the Gentlemen's Turnout and Lady Driver, Light Horse or Pony are only a few of the more than 40 horse competitions.

At the end of the day, the annual BBQ beef supper is always a sell-out and tickets are limited.
