Mens’ Golf News 

Ron Caudle had the low round of the night, a three over par 38, and won first low gross in the A-flight by three strokes over his nearest competitor.  Derryl Urstadt grabbed the low net award with a net 35. 

In the B-flight, Steve Green had a great round of 40 to win first low gross, while Mike Fitzmaurice won first low net with a net 32.  Charlie Schmalz was back at the prize table for his score of 45, winning first low gross in the C-flight, while Bill Berry took first low net with a net 36.

 Bill Richards and George Matheson shared first low gross in the D-flight with scores of 48, and their net scores of 34 and 35 were also the lowest in the flight, so they were content to claim both prizes, not caring whether their win was for low gross or low net.

Jim Norwood won the Closest to the Pin competition on the fifth hole and Mike Cleary sunk the Longest Putt on #1.

 Ladies Autumn Scramble

 On Wednesday, September 8, Chippewa hosted its annual Ladies Autumn Scramble, attracting teams from the host club as well as many entries from other area courses. 

The team from Cranberry Resort in Collinwood won the tournament with a score of three under par, 69.  Congratulations to Inger Yates, Gail Woodworth, Noreen Kilson and Gwen Collard.

In second spot with a score of two under par 70 was the team compised of Sue Honer, Ellie Lozon, Chris McCrae and Sandra White. 

Third place with a score of one over par 73 went to the team from Kincardine, comprised of Pam Young, Sharon Lajoie, Judy Hunter and Anne Lichtenberg.  Another Kincardine team, comprised of Mary Pockett, Sheila Yalden, Mary Knowlton and Shirley Purdie claimed fourth prize with a score of two over par 74.

Skins were won the the Yates team with birdies on #3 and #16, by the Pockett team with birdies on #11 and #13 and by the Honer team with a birdie on #5.

 Senior Mens’ Golf News

This week’s format was a team scramble, the normal game played on the first Tuesday of each month.  Each player in the group had to use at least 3 drives during the eighteen holes.

In first place with a score of four under par 68 was the three-man team captained by Barry Beatty with Peter Welford and Art Eby.  Dan Lazenby and his team of Jan Riddall and Bert Tripp were only one stroke behind with a 69 and claimed second spot.  Third place with scores of 74 was shared between the team captained by Bill Lazenby with Bill Thomson and John Upper and the team captained by Lorne Lazenby with Jim Connelly, Bill Richards and Don White.

Dan Lazenby won the Closest to the Pin competition on the fifth hole while Barry Beatty took the same prize on #13.
