Canadian Big Band Celebration a hit!

The annual Canadian Big Band celebration held in Saugeen Shores, September 17 - 19, drew the usual big crowds to the many venues that featured a variety of music styles.

The weekend started on Friday with several venues in both Southampton and Port hosting a wide variety of musical styles.

Thespians, (L) Debbie Legault, Trudy Kempers, Brian Grieve & Rachelle Mackenzie took everyone back in time in the music adaptation "A Good Time at the Dance Hall" at the Bruce County museum

Saturday was the annual 'big band' night at the CAW in Port Elgin where people could listen and dance to their favourite music of the big-band era of the 1930s and 40s.  The evening featured several bands, including the Toronto All-Star Big Band, Lighthouse Swing Band, Georgian Sound Big Band and Stardust Big Band among others.

Sunday was the weekend wind-up with the annual CAW  gala 'Jazz Brunch' that featured music by this year's jazz group, the Diana Panton Jazz Trio.

According to organizer, Charles Bell, the 2010 Big Band Celebration attendance was up over last year.
