Jeff Elliott is seeking re-election as a councillor in Huron-Kinloss because he wants to continue the work to improve the township's infrastructure and protect the municipality's lakefront.

The 44-year-old lifetime resident of Huron Township runs a mixed farming operation on Highway 21 with his wife, Sheryl, and their two children, Jarrett and Jorie.

The son of former Huron Township reeve Bert Elliott, he was raised in an environment of concern for municipal affairs. He currently sits on the Lucknow Recreation Board, the Lucknow Fire Board and the Mid-Huron Landfill committee. He also served a term as chairman of the Lucknow Fire Board.

"I'm pleased to have served the municipality for the past two terms," says Elliott. "Some accomplishments I am very proud of are the building of the new Lucknow Fire Hall, the current construction of the new warm-viewing area in the Lucknow Arena, and the infrastructure upgrades such as road improvements. These projects are all due to council working together with municipal staff to successfully apply for, and receive, provincial and federal grants."

He says municipal politics is a complex business. "I feel that I have a valuable perspective to bring to the council table from my experience as a lifetime resident, my involvement in agriculture, and my seven years on council."

Besides maintaining and improving the township's infrastructure, Elliott is committed to being a steward of the municipality's resources, to continuing to repair more of the concession roads, and to protecting the municipality's lakefront.

"I am pleased to see that many of the current council are seeking re-election as I believe the excellent working relationship we have among ourselves and with staff, makes for a unified municipality and helps us to accomplish our goals," he says.

"I look forward to serving on council for another term and hope that the constituents give me the opportunity to do so."
