If you're looking for some fun the first weekend in October, come out to the Tiverton Fall Fair.

The event runs Friday night, Oct. 1, and all day Saturday, Oct. 2, at the fairgrounds in Tiverton.

New this year is the "Mr. Beautiful Tiverton" competition being held in conjunction with the crowning of the 2010 Ambassador of the Fair and the Junior Prince and Princess of the Fair, Friday at 8 p.m. at the Whitney Crawford Community Centre. 

Following the competition is the auction of prize-winning pies and cakes.

Also new at the fair is the "Birds of Prey" show Saturday afternoon.

Other activities on Saturday include:

  • Pancake breakfast from 7:30-10:30 a.m.
  • Saddle horse show at 9 a.m.
  • Judging of Children's Pet show at 10 a.m.
  • Poultry show
  • Midway by Classic Amusements
  • Parade at 12 noon sharp, featuring floats, dignitaries, 2010 Ambassador of the Fair, Prince and Princess, Miss Mid-Western, Lucknow Pipe Band, antique tractors, clowns, horses, and much more
  • Kids entertainment with Clown Val E. Joy in the Lions Hall from 1-1:45 p.m.
  • Balloons and face-painting all afternoon on the fairgrounds
  • Needle in the Haystack for kids from 1-4 p.m.
  • Local entertainment and refreshments in the Lions Hall from 2-4 p.m.
  • Lawn and Garden Tractor Pull on the track at 2 p.m.
  • Kiddie tractor pull at 3 p.m.
  • Beer Gardens - "Late Night Radio"
  • Classic/antique car, truck and motorcycle show and shine
  • Miniature horse show
  • Girl Guide food booth on the fairgrounds
  • Cooking demonstration using local food only
  • Antique tractors display
  • Pony rides
  • Fall Fair Dance to "Kung Fu Lawyers" at 9 p.m.
