Barbara Hamilton has a passion for art and photography which can be seen in the beautiful pieces she has hanging in the guest gallery at the Victoria Park Gallery in downtown Kincardine.

A native of Kincardine, Hamilton now lives in London where she is a nurse and enjoys nurturing her creative side in her spare time.

She graduated from the University of Western Ontario in nursing in 2008 and used to work in the transplant department. She is now working in medicine and teaches clinical for second-year nursing students at the university.

Originally, she went to Fanshawe College for three years, studying photography. "My work life evolved into graphic design as well," she says. "I spent eight years working in that field and felt that it was time for a change."

She now does photography for fun rather than for a paycheque, photographing weddings, engagements, "trash the dress," nature, macro, babies, and more.

"In art, I like to explore textures using different mixed media and have started back into sculpture," she says.

Hamilton and her boyfriend of six-and-a-half years, Doug, share their home with two dogs and a rescued pet duck.

Her art remains at the Victoria Park Gallery throughout the month of September.
