Eaglesham: David Died suddenly in his 81st year
on Wednesday, September 29, 2010, shortly and unexpectedly after
suffering a fatal stroke, surrounded by his family at the Grey-Bruce
Regional Health Centre.
David was well-known and admired in regional theatre under his acting name of David Leslie. He was a skilled director, and a leading actor in countless productions at Owen Sound's Roxy Theatre over the past 40 years.
Predeceased by Priscilla, his wife of 45 years, he and Priscilla raised a family of four: David Jr., Christy, Marnie, and Gaynor. In 1969 the family moved from Toronto to Southampton where the couple partnered in their own business -- Priscilla's Antiques. Lately David lived in Owen Sound.
David was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his children and his siblings, and by his special friend and companion Audrey Cheadle, of Owen Sound. He was a beloved brother of Ethel of Burlington, Edith of Oakville, Annette of Oakville, and Lindsay of Owen Sound. David was the patriarch of a family which included eight grandchildren: Dylan, Emma, Brody, Priscilla, Andrew, Henry, Sydney, and Palmer. He was also an admired uncle to many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the very professional and compassionate staff who cared for David at the Owen Sound Hospital. \
His was a successful life, and he died as he would have wished. No flowers, but donations to the Owen Sound Little Theatre would be appreciated and can be made through Tannahill Funeral Home (519-376-3710.
