The Kincardine Rotary Club is broadcasting its 29th annual TV Auction Nov. 17, to audiences in the Kincardine, Ripley, Tiverton, Point Clark and Amberley area and potentially worldwide through the Internet.

Proceeds from the auction benefit the local citizens in need, local charities, Rotary Park, Rotary Youth Exchanges, disaster relief and other International Third World projects.

In the past, the club has used its funds for a new playground on Station Beach, and a picnic shelter at Rotary Park, as well as helped many deserving individuals make their lives better.

The TV auction will operate as it has in the past. An auction flyer will be distributed locally, listing all donations and the donors. On the night of the auction, all the donations will be shown on TV and the donor's names mentioned.

This year, the club will have access to the prize lists on the Internet in early November so people will have more time viewing the prizes.

Last year, the club auctioned off $16,000 worth of merchandise and raised more than $10,000.

Any questions can be referred to Rotarian Lillian Watterworth at 519-396-5455.

The Kincardine Rotary Club is also pleased to announce that its newest exchange student from Mexico arrived in September - welcome to Alejandro Martinez.

Last year, the club hosted a great student, Lubi from Slovakia, and Jessica Matheson of Kincardine has returned home from Brazil. If you would like to host a student for a few months, contact any Rotarian. The club is always looking for host families. It's a great experience for everyone and a chance to show off this country and the community.
