Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of Ron Tiner, Darren Bolton, Ab Middelkamp and Eileen Moffat who have recently passed away.  

Wednesday, the Ripley District Horticultural Society hosted its October meeting at the Ripley Community Centre with a great plant sale. 

Thursday, the Bruce County District Women's Institute Rally was held at Underwood. Janet Nixon, District President, and Deanna Scott, Largaret McInnes and Marilyn Reid enjoyed the day and the speaker - Judy Snobelen on her experiences at the 2010 Olympics at Vancouver. Belmore WI is hosting a Rose program with Margaret Trudeau who will be speaking on Mental Health and Bipolar disorders on April 29, 2011. Tickets will be $30 each, available. from the Belmore ladies.

Friday evening, Bervie-Kinloss United Church hosted a talent auction with some beautiful items being sold. Rob Thompson was auctioneer and entertained the audience.

Also on Friday evening, the Ripley 4-H Awards Night was held at the community centre with Sheep, Beef, Dairy, Vet, Curling and Conservation Clubs. Mark Robinson, Ripley-Huron Fair President, congratulated the members on their achievements and Dayna Simpson, Ripley Fair Ambassador, was the guest speaker. Dayna also assisted with presentations of club awards and door prizes. Congratulations to all the leaders for another great year of 4-H activities. Next year, new members can be age nine, as of Jan. 1, 2011.

 

Congratulations to Adam Smith who finished sixth overall in the 250F division in MotoCross bike racing. The season finished up this weekend in Alvinston.

Lois and Ross Durnin of Lucknow spent Sunday afternoon and evening with Don and Marilyn Reid.

Nov. 3, the WI meeting will be at the Grove at 7:30 p.m. with Jennifer Thompson talking about her new business venture of lotions and skin care products. Hope to see you there.
