All eyes are on Huron-Kinloss Township as it is using electronic voting for the first time in a municipal election. As of yesterday afternoon (Oct. 20), 9.5 per cent of the voters had cast their ballot, with about half of those using the Internet. The Intelivote system began Monday (Oct. 18) and runs through to, and includes, Election Day (Oct. 25). Voters can cast their ballots by Internet or telephone, through an "electronic polling station" which is open 24 hours per day, seven days per week, using a secure Personal Identification Number (PIN). An E-voting poll station is available at the municipal office in Ripley, for residents who do not feel comfortable voting on their own through the telephone or Internet. The station will be open from now through to Election Day, including Saturday, Oct. 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Election Day, Oct. 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
