Kincardine/Huron-Kinloss

This has been a banner construction year for both Kincardine and Huron-Kinloss.

In Kincardine, another 21 building permits were issued for September, with a total construction value of $1.25 million. Of those, three were for new homes, with a total value of $797,000.

This brings the total for the year to 221 permits, with a value of $22.5 million, compared to this time last year when 194 permits were issued, with a value of $15.57 million. 

The numbers also remain strong in Huron-Kinloss Township where mayor Mitch Twolan says it's been a very good year for the building department.

For September, 10 building permits were issued, with a total construction value of almost $1.5 million. Of these, three were for new homes, and one was for a triplex apartment building in Ripley.

To date for 2010, Huron-Kinloss has issued building permits for 45 new homes.

So far this year, 160 permits have been issued, with a value of $18.82 million, compared to last year when there were 126 permits issued, with a value of $13.583 million.
