figures soar in October

New home building caused Huron-Kinloss construction figures to soar again in October.

Chief building official Matt Farrell presented his report to council at its general committee meeting Monday night (Nov. 1).

Permits were issued for seven single family dwellings, with a total construction value of $1.465 million.

There were 24 permits issued in October, with a value of $1.781 million, compared to September when there were only 10 permits issued with a value of $1.5 million, including three new houses and a triplex apartment building in Ripley.

To date, the township has issued permits for 52 new homes. There have been a total of 184 permits issued, with a value of $20.605 million, compared to this time last year when there were 138 permits issued, with a value of $15.889 million.
