The Kincardine Community Singers could be heard for the first time this year, carolling up and down Queen Street at Kincardine's Hometown Christmas Friday night.

The choir is not performing its annual Christmas concert this year. Director Patt Lowry made the announcement in October, and thanked the choir members for their support during her time away, for personal reasons.

Lowry said it was a tough decision cancelling the concert but the executive felt it was best for all concerned for this year.

"We are going to miss having our greatest fan - my Dad - in the audience next year, but the show will go on," she said.

Lowry is excited to announce that the theme for the spring concert is: "Songs that make you Smile." It will include lots of fun stuff for the singers and the audience, as well as the wonderful Howlin' Dog Vintage Jazz Band opening the show with its upbeat Dixieland sound.

There will be a "January Thaw" registration night early in January, with practices beginning on Feb. 2, 2011.

Meanwhile, the Community Singers have a busy season planned, participating in other community events. For more information, check the website at www.amoagh.com , click on KCS down the left-hand side.
