Municipality approves various public works tenders

Kincardine council has approved several tenders pertaining to the public works department.

Montgomery Ford Sales Ltd. was awarded the tender to supply a half-ton pick-up truck, at a cost of $54,411.20. This was the second-lowest bid, with staff recommending Montgomery's because the location for service is preferable.

The lowest bid came from Newmarket Toyota at $54,210, while the highest bid was from Lakeside Chevrolet at $55,150. Budget for this item was $70,000.

The tender to supply winter sand, went to Don Ferris Construction, at a cost of $36,781.50. This was also the second-lowest bid, with staff recommending Ferris because of the pit proximity (at Bruce County Roads 20 and 1) which would show a savings in hauling expenses.

The lowest bid came from Harold Sutherland Construction at $32,826.50, while the highest was from Ken Jackson Construction Ltd. at $37,572.50. Budget was $43,500.

The tender to remove and replace sidewalks  went to the lowest bidder, C&M Construction Kincardine Ltd., at $40,100. The other bid was $41,115 from Ken Jackson Construction Ltd. Budget was $48,000.

The tender to supply, load, haul and place Granular "A" maintenance gravel was awarded to the lowest bidder, Joe Kerr Limited, at $226,185. The other bids came from Donegan's Haulage Ltd. at $234,600; and Norman Campbell Construction Limited at $239,700. Budget was $262,000.

The tender for miscellaneous asphalt repairs went to the lowest bidder, Multiple Enterprises, at $39,510. The other bids were $45,450 from Lavis Contracting Co. Limited; and $49,320 from Harold Sutherland Construction Ltd. Budget was $54,000.

 

The tender to supply and apply calcium chloride and/or magnesium chloride equivalent, went to the lowest bidder, Pollard Highway Products, at $64,485.20. The other bids were $68,016 from 552976 Ontario Limited Holland Transport; and $76,546 from 513125 Ontario Limited O/A Da-Lee Dust Control. Budget was $60,000.

The total for operating and capital came in under budget, reported the treasurer.
