The doors were to open at 8:00 a.m. but, by 7:30, they were lined up waiting to get in.  The event?  The Cham-bettes Christmas decorations sale.

The Saugeen Shores Cham-bettes annual Christmas decorations sale was held at the 'Boathouse' in Southampton on Saturday, November 27th and, in only four short hours, it was a frenzy of Christmas shopping.

All the items at the sale were donated, often cast-offs from previous years' sales.

The sale has, in fact, become a mainstay for the community to trade, buy and sell Christmas decorations and is a major fundraiser for the group.

"Can you believe it?" says Chambettes' Cherie Duhaime

The Cham-bettes consist of professional women throughout the community who hold several events throughout the year in order to raise funds which then go back into community projects.

Everything from trees to tinsel

During the past year, the group has helped to fund projects such as the Rotary Accessibility Playground in Southampton and contributed $40,000 in total to the local hospital.

As part of their Christmas fundraising endeavours, the group recently held its 2nd annual Christmas Home Tour and also its Craft Sale at The Plex.

The holiday season is a busy time for the group of women to raise much-needed funds that all go back in to community endeavours.
