To the Editor:

On Tuesday, Dec. 7. at 7.30 p.m., as a part of the Friends of the Kincardine Hospital meeting, we will be hearing from the steering committee of the now-approved Family Health Team.

The presence of this local team will have a great impact on the future status of our hospital, and our physicians are to be congratulated for their efforts. The how, why and wherefore of this team will be presented at this meeting. That we have had a dedicated medical clinic in place for some time paved the way for this project.

The news of the refitting of Bruce Power, which will be in progress for a number of years, makes this Family Health Team an even more valuable asset in the struggle to maintain our hospital, fully equipped, for the benefit of all of our citizens.

With the threat of closure of all rural hospitals by the current government - through the ministry of health - every channel must be used to overcome the dire consequences if closure is allowed to happen.

Your attendance at this meeting will send a clear message to the ministry before it proceeds with this threat.
