The Kincardine Community Concert Band provided a stellar Christmas Celebration concert Sunday afternoon at the Kincardine United Church. Despite the windy, snowy weather, about 150 people turned out for the event and enjoyed themselves immensely because of the high standard of the performance. From the strong and forceful "Fanfare" to the final note of "Frosty the Snowman," the show was a delight, featuring favourite Christmas carols and songs in medleys, challenging arrangements, and with several soloists. One particularly intriguing piece was "What Child Is This?" done to a quick, percussion-based beat. MC for the concert was Katie Kloosterboer, and joining the band was the Kincardine United Church choir, accompanied and directed by David Hamilton. The singers performed three songs, plus Leslie Ray and Esther Marshall sang a duet. At the end, the band gave gifts of appreciation to director Mary Kloosterboer, MC Katie Kloosterboer, and the choir director David Hamilton. If you missed the concert, you have another chance to hear the band, on Wednesday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m., at Trillium Court, Kincardine. The band has 50 members of all ages. The group practises Wednesday nights, 7-9 p.m., at Kincardine District Secondary School, and is always looking for new members. The members have performed in several Santa Claus Parades and play for the Music in the Park series in the summer.
