People were already lined up by 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning, for the fifth annual Cookie Walk at Knox Presbyterian Church, Tiverton, even though the event didn't open until 10 a.m.
Organizers said there was a flood of customers when the doors opened and within 40 minutes, the place was nearly empty and the cookies had been pretty much picked over.

Besides cookies, the event offered delectable fruit cake made by 85-year-old Janet MacKenzie, gingerbread houses, muffins and tarts, squares, candy, fudge, and Christmas ornaments and decor.

The Cookie Walk has been gaining in popularity, with proceeds going to the church restoration fund. Last year, it raised about $1,800, and organizers expect to raise about $2,000 this year.
