The Kincardine District Secondary School Grades 9 and 10 instrumental music students and the Glee Club had a chance to shine in "A Starry Knight" Christmas Concert held Friday night in the school cafeteria. Music teacher Aneta White welcomed the crowd and the opening songs were "Christmas at the Movies" and from the "Nutcracker Suite" - "Elves Dance" and "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy." Victoria Lockhart played three Christmas songs on the piano, and then Amber Finney sang "Santa Baby," accompanied by her brother, Brandan, on the piano. "Parade of the Wooden Soldiers" was performed by the ensemble of Morgan Shaw, Geoffrey Dadson and Aneta White on trumpet, and Erwin Ibadula on trombone.

The KDSS Glee Club sang "Believe" from the "Polar Express" movie. Geoffrey Dadson then performed a composition he wrote himself, "008," on trumpet. Jessica Hiscox and Morgan Shaw sang "Need You Now," followed by two ensembles: "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" - Alex Masur and Eline Gutter on clarinet, Hannah MacLeod on bass clarinet and Bronwynne Harvey on alto saxophone; and "Pirates of the Caribbean" - Gregory Dadson on tuba, Geoffrey Dadson on trumpet, Morgan Shaw on French horn, and Erwin Ibadula on trombone. The Grades 9 and 10 music class then ended the show by playing "Frosty the Snowman," "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." White thanked everyone who took part, as well as those students who created tickets, the program, posters, and helped set up for the concert. She noted the Angel Tree fund-raiser: students wrote their names on paper ornaments, with wishes they would like fulfilled for the KDSS music program, such as gently-used music books, drum sticks, and financial donations. Members of the audience were encouraged to take ornaments and send in their donations. White also reminded parents and guardians of the website for news, assignments and events, at www.knightsmusic.blogspot.com The music class will be taking its concert on the road, performing Thursday, Dec. 16, at 2 p.m. at Trillium Court.
