To the Editor:
Good old Norm Gurr never gives up. In his "unedited" Letter to the Editor (what editor would even want to attempt an edit of that one?) he proves to be the "Dickens" that he is by singing the praises with tongue somewhat in cheek of his cherished Southampton and some of the people who have helped make it the wonderful community that it is.
We need more people like Norm who have pride,
passion and courage of convictions, but maybe just a little less
long-winded.
One thing for certain, he has a couple of
editorial page columnists looking over their shoulders at The
Shoreline Beacon.
Count me among many, Norm, who slumber with one
eye open and appreciate the blessings bestowed upon us in this
'Oldest Port on The Bruce.
Merry Christmas all!
--Dick Wright, Southampton.
Editor: See We agree where many don't. It is people who have a passion for their community that make a difference. There are many critics, but few are willing to put their name forward behind their beliefs ... Norm Gurr is one who will.. This is one of the reasons the Saugeen and Kincardine Times were started to focus on community-based news ... so that people in the community have a voice. <within reason of course [smile]>
