Building reports for both the Municipality of Kincardine and Township of Huron-Kinloss indicate that construction is still going strong in both communities. In Kincardine, there were 24 building permits issued in November, for a total construction value of $1.9 million, compared to October when there were 15 permits issued for a total value of $1.4 million. November's figures included four new homes, with a total value of $970,000, plus one commercial unit at $230,000, one industrial unit at $271,000 and three agricultural accessory buildings at $108,000. October's figures included two new homes, with a total value of $700,000. As of the end of November, there have been 46 new homes built in Kincardine, with a total construction value of $13.266 million. Year-to-date figures show 260 permits issued, with a total value of $25.8 million, compared to this time last year when 206 permits had been issued, with a total value of $18.4 million. In Huron-Kinloss, there were 18 building permits issued in November, with a total construction value of $2.567-million. Included in those figures are permits for four new homes, one permit for three turkey barns, and one permit for a produce auction. To date this year, permits have been issued for 56 new homes in the township. This year's figures, to the end of November, are way ahead of the 2009 figures. To date, there have been 202 permits issued, with a value of $23.2 million, compared to last year when there were 152 permits issued, with a value of $17.7 million.
