Huron-Kinloss council has announced that the long-outstanding issues relating to the Poplar Beach cottages have been fully and finally resolved as a result of a settlement reached at the Landlord and Tenant Board this week. The Landlord and Tenant Board has ordered that: • The tenants shall be required to provide vacant
possession of the cottages to the township on or before Sept. 25,
2011. This date is final, not extendable and may be enforced
without further legal or process requirements; • The tenants will have until Sept. 25, 2011, to remove the cottages or portions thereof. As of Sept. 26, 2011, all right, title and interest in the cottages shall reside with the township; • This is a full and final settlement of the matter. The tenants have agreed not to appeal or pursue any issues relating to the cottages in court or any other forum, including by way of representations to Huron-Kinloss council. This resolution, which has been incorporated into an Order of the Landlord and Tenant Board, brings to an end a long-outstanding matter and precludes the need for further legal process. The township believes that it is fair and responsive to the tenants while recognizing that the cottage properties are public properties that belong to the residents of Huron-Kinloss.
