The affordable housing project continues to take shape in Port Elgin. Affordable housing means that whether it is an ownership or rental situation, accommodation costs should not exceed 30% of a gross household income, for low or moderate income households. Also, with ownership, a purchase price should be at least 10% below the average purchase price for the area and, for rental, the cost should also be below average market rent.
