Huron-Kinloss councillor Don Murray is the new volunteer co-ordinator in the event of an emergency. He
was named to the position at the Dec. 20 general committee meeting to
replace former councillor Anne Eadie who is now deputy mayor of
Kincardine. The volunteer co-ordinator is
responsible for arranging for volunteers, registering the volunteers,
and arranging food and lodging as required. In other news: - Remote
Automation Solutions has completed the installation of the Remote
Transmitting Unit (RTU) at the Ripley pump house. The cost of materials
and work on the emergency upgrade was $22,741 plus taxes. This work was
later approved in council session.
- Council has
accepted the quote from Da-Lee Professional Dust and Ice Management
Solutions to supply, deliver and apply 35-per-cent Liquidow Calcium
Chloride at a price of $0.176/litre which is the same as 2006, 2007 and
2009.
- The township has granted permission for Hydro
One Forestry Services to do some tree-pruning, tree removal, and brush
control maintenance on municipal property (opened and unopened road
allowances, rights-of-way located through parks, etc.) along the
lakeshore in the new year. While tree-trimming has proven to be a
highly-controversial issue, Hydro One is adamant that, where necessary,
trees will be removed to ensure the safe delivery of electricity.
- The
Ripley Winter Carnival will be held Feb. 11, 12 and 13. Township
council is being asked to volunteer to help with the breakfast for this
event.
