timOntario PC Leader Tim Hudak spoke to local dairy farmers at Grey Bruce Farmers Week in Elmwood Thursday (Jan. 6).

Hudak says it all about supporting our local farmers.

"I just fundamentally believe we need to protect our supply management system here in the Province of Ontario and we'll stand behind it 100 per cent," he says.

"Secondly, for commodities that don't have supply management, we need to move ahead with a business risk management plan that will support the family farm based on cost of production. I've seen far too many commodities, like beef and pork, done done that way. They've gone through some tough times and ups and downs.

"A risk management program will help create some stability, support long-term investment, and just like we have with supply-managed commodities, give farmers the ability to carry on the family farm and pass it to the next generation."

Farmers Week continues until Tuesday (Jan. 11) at the Elmwood Community Centre. For more information, check out the Grey Agricultural Services website at www.greyagservices.ca
